The element of surprise is key to a good proposal. I thought that a romantic dinner in the city would be too obvious a tip off. Therefore, I invited my girlfriend to the city to visit the Sears Tower on cold January morning. We went to the top and did touristy things. Then I had her sit on a bench and I got down on one knee to propose. She said yes. That was 15 years ago.

Prior to this we had no special attachment to the Tower. We love the city and it's architecture. This is a great place to enjoy it.
