Lime Kiln Ruins, Sherwood Wisconsin, USA - Ovens and Kilns on Waymarking.com

This building was once the Western Lime and Cement Company, which produced on the site from 1856 until spring of 1956, at which time the quality of the limestone available was diminishing, and the land had been purchased by the state of Wisconsin for a new state park.

The remains are mostly the kilns and the chimneys, secured behind a chain-link fence. There is also a small building that was used to pack up the lime for transport that remains on the right side of the ruins.

There is a hiking trail that goes past the lime kiln ruins, although the ruins are the first part of the trail and are even visible from the parking lot. It's a flat 100 ft hike to directly in front of the ruins.
