Marker Text: Originally built as a modern commercial building, it was tagged the “Old Clinic” in the late 1920s when Dr. John Vandervert moved his medical practice here from his country home along the Little Deschutes River, south of present-day Sunriver. The Vanderverts were prominent homesteaders and were well known for their hospitality and community leadership. The “Old Clinic” is one of Bend’s best examples of Mediterranean style architecture with Romanesque details.
