What is a FengHuang?
A FengHuang is a bird from Ancient Chinsese mythology. A FengHuang is actually two separate birds the male Feng and the Female Huang. Because of the male and female portions the FengHuang is often associated with marriage. Today it is thought of as a single female bird that is paired with the male dragon.
In Chinese mythology it is believed that the FengHuang is the king of the birds. It is also believed that the Feng Huang is one of four creatures that created the world along with the dragon, the tortoise, and the unicorn. It is believed that after the creation of the world the world was divided into four sections. The FengHuang was supposedly given dominion over the southern section of the world and this is why birds migrate south.
The FengHuang is made out of several different animal parts. It is made out of the neck of a snake, the tail of a fish, the back of a tortoise, and several other bird parts. The Feng Huang is approximately 9ft. tall.
