The Morrisette Farmhouse was built in 1912 in a rural area. By the late 1920s the district had been open to suburban housing with the arrival of the streetcar service on Dunbar Street and 41st Avenue. Today it is hard to imagine a farm in this area.

Morrisette Farmhouse
One of the first houses built in this area, this farmhouse was constructed in 1912 for the Morrisette family when they moved from Montreal to farm an adjacent two city block parcel of land. Being a rural address, their home was described as being “on Johnson Road between Whitehead road and Wilson Road.” Today these are Blenheim Street, 37th Avenue and 41st Avenue. In 1913 William Morrisette acquired the adjacent lot and moved the house, turning and expanding it. He also added wide verandas with turned columns and a corner entry. Cut granite was used in the new foundation walls, the column bases and the garden wall along Johnson Road.
