One side of the memorial reads:
In Grateful tribute toward their living and dead who through their valiant efforts and bitter sacrifice have made America great is this shrine so nobly dedicated.
May God grant that the liberty of mankind which on brave souls win and only vigilance can guard shall live on with greater virility to perpetuate itself for all ages to come.
