On the plaque
"ON THIS SITE
PARRAMATTA
WAS PROCLAIMED A CITY BY
HIS EXCELLENCY THE
LORD WAKEHURST K.C.M.G.
ON 11TH NOVEMBER 1938
ALD. W.J. IRWIN MAYOR"

The plaque is mounted atop of a short sandstone pillar of which the top plane is inclined.

[Since noting this waymark, there appears to have been a large rebuild of the precinct. Please note Grahame Cookie's log. The writer suspects the marker has been removed!]

From (visit link) Lord Wakehurst was the Governor of New South Wales at the time.
