The ugly UFO hovering over Bulls is in fact a standard reinforced concrete Water Tower, situated in Taumaihi Street.
It features in a book "Long Live The Modern" by Julia Gatley which is a road-trip through the country, picking out the gems of ‘Modern’ architecture from 1904–1984.
It credits William (Bill) Alington for the Hydro Design Office, Ministry of Works (1956) who designed it.
