Cherry Springs State Park is a great place to observe the northern sky. It is one of the darkest places in the Eastern US, and is considered a Dark Sky Park. In fact it is the second Dark Sky Park in the world. This park has four small observatories that can be reserved in advanced. They each can hold 3 to 4 people. Three of the observatories are domes, and the fourth is a sky shed with a roll off roof. You need to supply your own telescope, but the electric is supplied. The observatories are located in the astronomy field were open sites can be rented for the night. Each site contains outlets to set up equipment and the entire field is wi-fi accessible with login and password. White lights are not allowed on the astronomy field so it is best to get set up before dark, or use red lights. Every year a Dark Sky Party is held and amateur stargazers from all over the world visit this park.
