"Not to be Ministered Unto but to Minister"

BSC was founded by the American public education pioneer Horace Mann in 1840. Starting as single room in the basement of Bridgewater Town Hall, BSC is now the largest of the nine Massachusetts state colleges and the fourth largest of the 29 public college and university campuses in Massachusetts. The first step in that direction took place in 1992, with the securing of a $10-million federal grant to build what has become the John Joseph Moakley Center for Technological Applications.

Approximately 10,000 full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled at the college. The full-time faculty numbers 300 plus. The college offers more than 90 undergraduate and graduate programs are offered by it's four schools: A School of Arts and Sciences, School of Education and Allied Studies, School of Business and, School of Graduate Studies. These four school are speard over a 270 acre campus housing 38 academic, administrative and residential buildings.

BSC has plans for the future as well. With money raised annually form students, alumni, and the state, plans for new buildings and the revamping of older ones are in the works over the next few years.
