A Cook County Highway Department Bench Mark disk embedded in the bridge over the Edens Expressway (I-94) in Wilmette, IL. To reach the station, go west from the intersection of Hibbard Rd and Glenview Rd to the mark on the left. The mark is on the south side of the street, embedded in the concrete where the SE wingwall and the southern abutment meet.
The mark is about a foot south of the guard rail and a foot west of a rusty, bent chain link fence. While the mark is just past the fence and guard rail, there is no need to go around them to view the mark, as the photos will show.
According to the date stamped on the mark, it was monumented in 1954, which would correspond with the construction of the Edens Expressway. Also, the marker has the township (T 42 N) and range (R 13 E) stamped on it.
