Homer is located on the University of Virginia campus at the south end of main lawn in front of Cabell Hall.

Official description is: "Homer, clothed in classical garb, is seated on a bench covered with a cloth. At his feet, seated on the ground, is his youthful Egyptian guide with crossed legs. The guide, facing east, holds in his proper left hand what appears to be either a writing tablet or a musical instrument. Homer has his proper right hand on his proper right knee and proper left hand on the head of the young guide."
Out in the main campus lawn, the statue had several students in the sun sketching the figures for an art class.
