The Texas State Cemetery (http://www.cemetery.state.tx.us) consists of 18 acres. The Cemetery provides a final resting-place for individuals who have made a significant contribution to Texas. Stephen F. Austin, 11 governors, numerous legislators, judges and unique individuals throughout Texas’ history are some of the people buried at the Texas State Cemetery.

There is also a large section (the southeast quadrant) called the Confederate Field which is the final resting places of over 2,200 Confederates including the tomb of General Albert Sidney Johnston, CSA.

There are also many memorials and monuments including those for 9/11, Medal of Honor Recipients, World War II, Viet Nam, Gold Star Mothers, and more.

This is an active cemetery and there is a room for approximately 7,500 burials, with about half that many presently interred.
