This is one of the major Wats in the City of Saraburi. It is located near the City Pillar Shrine of the Province, the Provincial Court House, and various government departments—an important area of the city. Housed in the Wat is the Buddha image of the East, and one of the four images made by the Territorial Defence Department to express loyalty to King Rama VI and King Rama IX.
The grounds of the Wat are not large, however, the Wat is attractively designed and well maintained.
When I visited the Wat was clearly preparing for a festival. As there was a stage area setup for a band, and various goods were on sale, the festival seemed more secular than religious in orientation, however, there was no one present who I could discuss this with. Note also that this Wat is not listed on Google Maps as of April 2010!
