In 1892 C.W. “Charlie” Bartholomew, C. opened the C. W. Bartholomew Funeral Home. It was previously a furniture store that stood where the Court Restaurant now stands. After several relocations, the facility moved to the present location in 1946. When Bob Bartholomew returned home from the Navy in WWII he joined the family business in 1949. In August of 1997, Bob sold the business to an independent funeral director and friend from Valparaiso named Michael Newhard.
