In 1930, Scripps Howard Newspaper had a new, Moderne Style building built for the Akron Times-Press. Its architect was Howell & Thomas and was constructed by Clemmer-Noah Construction. In 1938, Times-Press ceased operation and the Akron Beacon Journal acquired the building, located at E Exchange and S High sts. The building has a three tiered corner tower representing the Scripps Howard lighthouse logo. Torch motifs ornament the banded tower. Swaged lanterns are over the entries. Buttress piers contain windows above the basement. The walls are constructed of limestone. Several additions have been made to the building, including an employee parking deck on the south side.
