This stamp, called "Centenaire de la Tour Eiffel", was issued in 100th Anniversary of this engineering work. Once the tallest structure in the world, the Eiffel Tower is probably France's best known landmark and Paris's most famous symbol. You couldn't possibly visit Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower. Even if you do not want to visit it, you will see its top from all over Paris. It rises 300 meters tall and was twice as high as the Washington Monument, at the time the tallest structure in the world.
Inaugurated March 31, 1889, the Eiffel Tower would be the tallest structure in the world until the completion of the Chrysler Building in 1930 and still it is one of most important landmarks of World's civil engineering...
