Gazanias are a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, native to Southern Africa. They are often planted as drought-tolerant ground cover.
This South African perennial has short densely leafy stems and yellow or orange flower rays with black eyespots at base. Flowers appear in the late spring and early summer. They prefer a sunny position. Flowers close up at night or in dull weather.
These Napier beach flowers grow wild along the beach reserve, they bloom around September onwards, making a beautiful display amongst the gravel above the beach.
