A sundial is carved into the stone on a south facing wall of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieha, Malta. The sundial is above the aches in the right hand corner.

The sundial at the Sanctuary of our lady is a minor feature unnoticed by most visitors. The dial faces south and is engraved in stone, with hour lines in black from 7 am to 5. The date and designer of the original dial are unknown. The dial was restored by George Fenech in 1970.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieha, Malta is a special place. For the casual visitor the aches give a great view of Mellieha Bay, the Mafra Peninsula, Comino and Gozo. Doors in the east wall hide tiny rooms for pilgrims. A statute of Our Lady is in the center of the plaza and one of St Paul dominates the west wall. The door to the sanctuary chapel is beside the statue of St Paul. Plaques give the prayer to Our Lady of the Grotto in six different languages. The grotto with an underground chapel is beneath the sanctuary, accessible with steps leading down across the road. The Church of Our Lady of Victory soars above the Sanctuary.
