The sculptor's inspiration for the piece is Japanese tradition. It consists of three travertine stones of varying sizes placed in a triangular formation. The Center stone symbolizes heaven and the two other stones symbolize the earth and humankind. The central stone is draped with two symbolic strands. One strand a steel cable, represents Richmond's port and industrial activity, and the other, a silken rope refers to Japan.
