This was once the largest abbey in Wales, It was established in 1129AD when Sir Richard de Granville gave 8,000 acres of his estate to the Savignic Monks from Western Normandy, The monks Arrived in 1130AD, The archaeology of the abbey was eventually excavated between 1924 and 1935
At present time it is free entry to the abbey and is worth a visit.
