This seven stone clapper bridge is situated over the Devonport Leat close to the West Dart Weir, which is the 'take off point' for the leat. This is an unusually wide clapper; wide enough to take vehicles, but the position of the bridge makes it impossible to get a vehicle into the area. The bridge was probably built so wide because it is on the ancient route of the Lych Way, where hundreds of years ago coffins were carried on this route to Lydford Church. There is an annual walk along the route each year, covering 14 miles.
