The Northampton and Banbury Junction Railway was authorised in 1863 and the first section was opened from a station adjoining the LNWR’s premises at Blisworth, running to Towcester, on 1st May 1866. It was not until April 1891 that the Towcester-Ravenstone Junction line was opened and a connection was made at Easton Neston for shipment of iron ore from the quarries in the area. In 1909 the line became known as the Stratford upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway and continued to carry passengers and freight until 1952 and mid-1960s respectively.

This bridge is one of those built on the Ravenstone Branch from Towcester to Ravenstone Wood, near Olney on the Midland's Northampton branch-line form St.Pancras. The abutments are constructed in stone but bricks form the arch.
