The text from the NJ Guide can be found on page 434 as part of Tour 2, which ran from Newark to Clinton to Phillipsburg, NJ along US highway 22.
At 48.8 m, is the junction with a dirt road.
Left on this road to a BAPTIST CHURCH, 0.1 m., an ivy covered stone builing with green shutters, abandoned more than 40 years ago. The well-kept grass of the graveyard, large oak trees, and the modern Van Syckle tomstones behind the church contribute to a deceptively prosperous appearance.
--- NEW JERSEY A Guide to the Present and Past 1939
The church is actually called the Bethlehem Baptist Church. The church has seen further decay in the 72 years since the book was written in 1939. Only the masonry remains, with the roof collapsed and much of the glass broken. The graveyard is still well maintained and the Van Syckle tombstones and obelisks (included in the photos) still being maintained. The church and graveyard are considered a local historical site.
Not surprisingly, you cannot get to this church via these means any more. Interstate 78 bisects where the old dirt road used to run from what is now route 173 (which is what the old road for US 22 was renamed when I-78 was built). You can access it on the I-78 service road, south side between exits 11 and 12.
