John Lester Hubbard Chafee (October 22, 1922 – October 24, 1999) was an American politician. He served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, as governor of Rhode Island, as the Secretary of the Navy, and as a United States Senator.

This statue of Chafee is in Colt State Park. In 1965, the State of Rhode Island purchased Colt Farm, and on August 21, 1968, the lands were dedicated as Colt State Park by Rhode Island Governor John Chafee.

The statue was dedicated June 16, 2003 by Governor Donald Carcieri.
