[FR] Cette station fut inaugurée le 13 décembre 1900. La ligne 2 n'allait alors que jusqu'à la station Étoile, maintenant Charles De Gaulle - Étoile.
La station dessert notamment la prestigieuse Université Paris-Dauphine, créée en 1968. Porte Dauphine est également célèbre pour une de ses entrées créée par Hector Guimard (celle donnant sur la Place des Généraux du Trentinian - côté pair de l'Avenue Foch).
La station Porte Dauphine est l'une des dernières à avoir conservé :
sa configuration d'origine « en raquette », à savoir deux demi-stations divergentes, encadrant une boucle de retournement très serrée, de trente mètres de rayon seulement ;
sa décoration d'origine, en carreaux plats de couleur crème ; elle fait partie des décorations expérimentales essayées en 1900, avant que ne soit retenu, par la suite, le célèbre carreau blanc biseauté.
[EN] The station contains one of the only two remaining aedicules originally designed by Hector Guimard (1867–1942), the Art Nouveau architect who was originally commissioned by the Compagnie du Métropolitain de Paris (CMP) in 1899 to design the entrances for the Métropolitain stations. (The other is at Abbesses.)
The Porte Dauphine station was inaugurated on 13 December 1900. At the time, Line 2 had only been completed as far as Charles de Gaulle—Étoile. It now runs from Porte Dauphine around the northern part of Paris, through Montmartre, around to its eastern terminus at the Place de la Nation. It is named after Porte Dauphine, a gate in the nineteenth century Thiers wall of Paris. Its subtititle honours Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny.
