H.M.C.S. Chippawa, a Canadian Naval Reserve division, is still in the same place now (Smith St/Navy Way & Broadway) as it was in 1948.

In October 1942, they moved to this location at 51 Smith Street which was the old Winnipeg Winter Club.
In 1985, The City of Winnipeg renamed a 150 m. (500 ft.) portion of Smith Street to Navy Way, in recognition of long service to the city and the country. (see 'proof' web link below).
In 1998, the old Winnipeg Winter Club building was demolished and in Nov. 1999, the new naval training building was completed.
