Along the river foreshore boulevard of the quiet city of Surat Thani you will find a representation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara—the enlightened one "who looks down". A figure of great Buddhist importance.
This statue is based upon a Srivijaya Empire original (the Srivijaya Empire covered this region ~12 centuries ago).
