The Spirit of Athens
City Hall (corner of College Avenue and East Washington Street)

The "Spirit of Athens," a work by William J. Thompson, NA. that stands outside of City Hall, was made possible by the Athens Rotary Foundation and by the general contributions of the citizens of the community.

"Torchlighter" commemorates the Olympic Games of 1996 (in which volleyball, soccer and rhythmic gymnastics were played in Athens), Athens '96 and the community that helped put on the events and showcase Athens-Clarke County to the world.
