In 1941 the German forces in Denmark gained interest in Silkeborg Bad which was a recreational spa. In 1943 they moved their headquarter from Copenhagen to Silkeborg Bad. Several barracks and bunkers where built in the area and many of the bunkers are still to be found. After the war the area was used for refugees.
