In Dedham, in a section called Riverdale, is the Pine Ridge Animal Center, which is part of the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
According to the web site, the Animal Rescue League has been "helping animals since 1899." The Pine Ridge Center is a 27 acre facility that includes an animal shelter, a livestock rehabilitation center, and a pet cemetery that is claimed to be the oldest existing cemetery run by a humane society in the country. Stones date back to the early 1900s.
Visting hours to the shelter vary from day to day, but are generally from 1pm to 6 pm.
