The Romaneque-Gothic Church of Saint Petronilla (built in XIth century and rebuilt in XVth century) was heavily damaged during the Second World War and only the belfry remained intact from the original medieval structure. Thanks to its for Cotentin unusually high elevation (102 m a.s.l.), the village La Pernelle has been transformed into a Garman fortress and suffered from numerous Allied air-raids.
