St Peter's Church - Melaka - This Old Church on Waymarking.com

This church has the date "1710" on the belfry and this is widely accepted as the year the church was erected. When Malacca fell to the Dutch in 1641 they persecuted the Catholics, destroyed or desecrated churches, refused them permission to have their own cemeteries and forbade priests permission to administer their flocks. In 1703, after the war of Spanish Succession, the Dutch adopted a softer stance toward the Portuguese Catholics and Franz Amboer, a Dutch convert, donated the land upon which this church was built.

The bell in the belfry was moulded in Goa and is dated 1608.
