The sculpture was cast in 1976. It is 1.2 meters tall and 0.7 meters wide and sits on a stone plinth. It was purchased from the artist for £2000 via the Goddard Fund for Arts. Percy Brown was at the time a tutor in Pottery and Sculpture at Leicester School of Art, now incorporated into De Monfort University (the other University in Leicester)

In June 1979 the rod between the sculpture and the plinth was bent by vandals after which it was protected with a bronze collar. In May 1985 it was further damaged by vandals.

The sculpture has been placed at a number of sites on the campus over the years.
