The station was opened on 18th October 1865 and is on the Deventer - Almelo railway line, Almelo - Saltzbergen railway line, Zwolle - Almelo railway line and the Mariënberg - Almelo railway line.
The first station was opened by miister Thorbecke and was disigned bij K. van der Gaast en J.H. Baas.
The current station building dates from 1962.
