This beautifully landscaped park encompasses a city block and is located across U.S. Highway 90 from the Madison County Courthouse. In addition to the gazebo, the park contains the famous Four Freedoms monument, which honors Colin P. Kelley, a former Madison County resident who is recognized as the first U.S. hero of World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his bravery and valor in combat.
The gazebo sits on the site of a former circa 1835 blockhouse that was constructed to protect homesteaders from the Seminoles. The gazebo is very popular for weddings, concerts, and other events. The Annual Four Freedoms Festival is held here.
