As well as being a sculptor, Heiki teaches history at Talln University and is the organiser of a wood carving symposium that is held every year. The frog is a symbol of Estonia and Heiki is using the idea to make a political statement. In his view, Estonia, a small country with 1.2 million people is not heard enough in Europe. He considers his country is no more effective than a croaking frog.
The sculpture is made from Douglas Fir taken from the Porlock Toll road. Information from: (

This is one of four sculptures I saw when walking along this path. There are more on the trail which is described at: (

The sculptures are the result of an international woodcarving event held in the autumn of 2004 and are placed alongside a 720-metre surfaced path at the Webber’s Post Access trail on the National Trust’s Holnicote Estate. The walk will take a leisurely 30 minutes.
The trail starts beneath the firs near the main car park at Webber’s Post (below, grid reference 903439). This is on a minor road, a mile south-west of Luccombe and three miles south-east of Porlock. It can also be approached on the road over Dunkery from Wheddon Cross. It is sign posted and the route displayed on a wooden board.
