There is not much I can report about this bench mark. It is an U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) bench mark disk that is embedded into the top of a concrete foundation of the old Jeremy Hill fire lookout tower. The fire lookout tower was build between 1917 and 1918 and was in use until 1982 when it was torn down. So the bench mark can not be older than 1917. It has no stamping, year, elevation or other identification. The disk has a little triangle in the middle and shows the text FOR INFORMATION WRITE THE DIRECTOR WASHINGTON D.C. - COOPERATION WITH THE STATE - ELEVATION - ABOVE - SEA - FEET.

To reach the bench mark drive to the end of Jeremy Hill Road in Pelham, New Hampshire. Your map may show Jeremy Hill Road continuing past these coordinates south. But from here you have to walk. The road becomes a class 6 road, actually it's more a trail than a road, accessible for the public to continue into the Jeremy Hill State Forest. For a short distance both sides of the trail are private property so please stay on the trail. The Jeremy Hill State Forest property is marked with blue blaze on the trees.

Once you reach Jeremy Hill look for the concrete remains of the old fire lookout tower. Middle age conifers are growing all around these foundations. There are four square concrete blocks that mark the sides of the tower and a small square block in the middle. This is the concrete block with the bench mark. Bench mark is maybe covered with needles so you may have to clean it up a little bit.

Enjoy your hike up Jeremy Hill.
