The memorial can be found on the edge of the estate of Southill Park on the road between Old Warden and Ireland. It is a stone, obelisk shaped memorial and is dedicated to William Henry Whitbread who was responsible for encouraging the spread of the railways in Bedfordshire.

The inscription reads as follows:
'To William Henry Whitbread Esquire
For his Zeal and Energy in promoting Railways
through the County of Bedford
1864
Erected by Public Subscription.'
