Along the Hay St Mall, in the centre of Perth city, are a number of statues and place marks commemorating the history of the city. One of these, near the centre of the mall, is a statue to the street performer, Percy Button (1892 - 1954), who lived and practiced his art in the first half of the 20th century. His act involved various acrobatics (sommersaults and handstands), with his livelihood being funded by his street audience.
There are innumerable stories preserved online concerning this interesting gentleman. Evidently, a lifetime ago, he was a prominent figure.
The statue is life-sized, composed of bronze, and Mr Buttons is wearing shirt and trousers, plus his hat. At the base of the statue is a plaque (in gallery) with a biography.
