The Onondaga County Courthouse is located on the city block outlined by Montgomery, Jefferson, and State Streets on the Eastern edge of Columbus Circle in downtown Syracuse.
This beautiful building, designed by local architect Archimedes Russell, was built between 1904-07 in the beaux-arts architectural style; this neo-classical style was popular for government buildings in the US between 1880 and 1920. In 1980, the building was listed in the NRHP registry. The Columbus Circle/Montgomery Street historical area of Syracuse is very beautiful and worth visiting!
The courthouse serves as both the Onondaga County and the New York State 5th Judical Courts.
