The theater was founded 1957 by Roland Rasser. The opening night did not have an ticket fee, but visitors had to bring there own chairs and let them there. Some of those chairs were in use in the theater until 2002.
1965 program for children started, mainly fairy tales. Having 20'000 visitors each year, this is the most poplar fairy tale theater in Switzerland.
In 1971 a second stage in the same building opened, the "Tabourettli". The building was converted in 1989, the famous architect Santiago Calatrava was responsible for "Tabourettli". The capacity is now 220 persons in Faulteuil and 180 in Tabourettli.
In 1998 founder Roland Rasser handed over the theater to his children Caroline and Claude.
