In Plaza Park, there's a Ventura Veteran's War Memorial. Spanish bronze canon, amazingly etched with Manilla, July 14 1798, Philipines, St Buenaventura, 1898-1902.

On the southern end of Plaza Park edge along Thompson Blvd, Ventura Veteran's War Memorial consists of largely massive bronze Spanish war canon. On it is etched "Manilla, July 14 1798 Philipines, St Buenaventura, 1898-1902." This is a very old monument since Ventura is a very old city and memorializes the War with Spain, Phillipine insurection, China Relief and obvious others. There is a American flagpole at the monument.
