The Preserve consists of a mosaic of several native plant communities, including wet and mesic flatwoods, depression marshes, wet prairies, prairie hammocks and a small baygall. Past agricultural practices have disturbed about 7% of the Preserve. It was acquired as two parcels in 2001 and 2003 for a total of 2,709 acres. Hiking, Horseback Riding, 3-mile primitive at-grade Bike Trail, Bird Watching & Nature Study/Photography are all popular activities at the preserve
