This stone sculpture features the word "Peace" on multiple sides. It faces a triangular shaped, three-way intersection in an old part of Camden, NJ. I was amazed the locals have not destroyed the sculpture. There is also a neat little fountain to the rear of this abstract art. "Peace" I believe is on Parish Grounds of Sacred Heart Church. The fountain, church and other works of art have a decided religious feel and connotation. The artist in unknown and an internet search yielded no information. Under no circumstance should you visit this if the sun is not high in the sky.
The 6-7 foot sculpture can be found at the intersection of Broadway Turnpike and Ferry Avenue. It sits on a 3 foot base so it rises about 10 or 11 feet in the air. There is a lot of relief work to it as well as there are disembodied hands raising up from the base. I also saw rifle butts. The shape is oblong and fish-like with the body being hallowed out and containing the word "peace".
