Missouri Highway M, which is also Main Street in the downtown area, travels north out of the business district and slices in half the city park, which resides between this business district and the upper crust residential area.
IN the median of Hwy M (MO-M) stands a large Civil War memorial topped off with a statue of a Union Soldier. He no longer holds his rifle, because of a errant gold ball, which broke it off some 60 years ago.
The western half of the park is located the local veterans memorial and the gazebo. This gazebo is used for the Fourth of July celebrations, and other town functions. I am told in the summer months it becomes a band stand for concerts in the park.
