This memorial erected by the Residents of Martinborough and District to commemorate the fallen of the Great European War, 1914-1918, takes the form of a triumphal arch and gateway to the central park area of this small township. The two white painted, stone pillars are linked by a wrought iron arch and there are two hinged wrought iron gates mounted one on each pillar. The insriptions are inscribed onto marble slabs mounted into the front faces of the pillars. Forty-nine men of all ranks are commemorated.
