When visiting the town of Songkhla, I came across this university. To be frank, as it stands in 12/2009, calling it a university is being generous. The university sign is the most impressive feature to be found.
Putting two and two together: the existing buildings behind the sign are a mix of old and new. That is to say, there are a few old buildings with titles like 'weaving' and 'mechanics', intermixed with half built new constructions. What this suggests is that there was a long standing trade school on the site, but recently, the Thai government decided to upgrade the existing school to a university of technology. A process just begun.
The website states that this university is in fact merely one campus of a larger university, which covers the region of southern Thailand. I could find no more than a mention of the existence of this campus on the university website. I suspect it will be a few years before it becomes fully operational.
Interestingly, the 'Srivijaya' in the name of the university refers to a Javanese empire which existed ~six centuries ago, and ruled parts of what is now southern Thailand.
