The double roofed house that stood at the corner of 3rd street and North San Pedro, has recently been torn down after an evaluation for restoration. A unique example of the Colonial Revival style, this was the largest known example of the style in Arizona. The unique double roof was used to provide insulation from the heat. This house was built by a Mr. Clark, Benson's first railroad engineer. All that remains (12/09) to mark its former location are some concrete slabs, pipes protruding from the ground, and several piles of redwood lumber stacked nearby.
