Located approximately 16kms east of Perth, the Midland train station is the farthest link on the eastern rail line, which begins its journey from the Perth city train station. The Midland station lies inside the town of Midland, has two islands, and is always busy. Local buses are available outside the station. There is a station parking area, and shops in the immediate vicinity.

Even though the suburban line ends here the train line itself continues. There is a train servicing area beyond, and beyond that the trans-continental line, upon which the Indian Pacific train travels across Australia.

This building began operation in 1968, replacing an earlier station. This area was settled early in the state's history, and a rail link to the city, has always been important.
